MONROVIA, CA, June 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Carsten Sieden, Senior Vice President of Fine Chemicals & Biocatalysis Research at BASF to give a Keynote Presentation on "Biobased Chemicals - BASF's Perspective" at the 3rd Biobased Chemicals: Commercialization & Partnering Conference (Sep 13-14, 2012 in San Francisco, CA)
Carsten Sieden will describe the various options for renewable raw materials in the chemical industry. Elegant chemical synthesis strategies starting from renewables have been proposed and are currently under investigation. In biotechnology the rapid progress in genetic engineering and genome science has opened up biosynthesis routes, which have been considered impossible until recently. Sieden will detail strategies and perspectives for bringing chemicals derived from those technologies to the market. He will discuss the role of alliances and partnerships as basis for successful technology development and commercialization. His keynote will outline this dynamic development with special emphasis on BASF activities and views on the use of renewable raw materials and biotechnology for the chemical industry.
Dr. Carsten Sieden is Senior Vice President, Fine Chemicals & Biocatalysis Research at BASF. In this role he is responsible for BASF's global research activities in Industrial Biotechnology with 200+ scientists and staff dedicated to develop technologies and products for markets including chemicals, biopolymers and performance biologicals.
