Winnipeg Startup Launches Social Network for Festivals
Festivalist Helps Festival Lovers Connect
WINNIPEG, MB, July 03, 2012
Who doesn't know someone who starts talking about "next year" the day after a festival is over? This summer marks the birth of an exciting new social network that brings festivalgoers together while providing them with a candid and immersive look into the events they love. It's called Festivalist and will be available for both iPhone and the web, with an Android version coming later this year."Being long-time Winnipeg Folk Festival campers, we wanted to give festival lovers a place to share their experiences in a way that really captures the culture of music festivals," says John Luxford, co-founder and lead developer of the service. "The goal is to enable them to form new communities and expand existing ones while also providing detailed information about their favourite events."
Festivalist presently combines mobile photo sharing with a more comprehensive website where users can create profiles for themselves and their campsites, share stories, quotes, videos, add followers and comment on photos.
"We are working closely with select festivals to add information on campgrounds, lineups, ticket sellers, and much more," says co-founder and mobile developer, Matt Sodomsky. "Outdoor festivals are a worldwide experience and we're excited to be helping bring people together."
The Festivalist app is now available for download from the iTunes App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/app/festivali.st/id534833111 and the full website launches in the first week of July at http://www.festivali.st.
