ORLANDO, FL, July 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) The American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine (AAUCM), in its goal to provide member benefits which bring high-quality products and services to its members, has joined together with Precision Medical Devices to bring the T-RING digital tourniquet to AAUCM members for use in their Urgent Care clinics.
The T-RING is the world's fastest, safest and easiest to use digital tourniquet. It was designed by an emergency physician to reduce the high rate of complications related to digit injuries, most often resulting from missed tendon and nerve injuries and missed foreign bodies. Nearly 25% of all emergency department litigation is due to wound related complications, and 38% of foreign bodies are missed on the first visit. While experts note that the bloodless field provided by digital tourniquets is critical to minimize these complications, they also warn of the significant risks associated with traditional tourniquet methods such as the Penrose drain, surgical glove and commercially available silicon bands.
The T-RING is the first one-size-fits-all tourniquet for digits, automatically adjusting to the size of any digit to apply a safe and effective pressure every time. This eliminates the risk of excessive pressure that is associated with all other available methods. The T-RING's bright color and high profile also minimizes the risk of digital necrosis resulting from a forgotten tourniquet. The introduction of the T-RING finally offers providers a simple, easy method to minimize risk, manage time and maximize outcomes in a high volume, high risk area of Urgent Care Medicine - the initial evaluation and management of digit injuries.
About Precision Medical Devices, LLC
Precision Medical Devices designs, manufactures and distributes the T-RING Digital Tourniquet. The T-RING is the world's first one-size-fits-all tourniquet for digits, designed to eliminate the significant risks associated with other available methods. The award winning T-RING has been highlighted in Business Week's International Design Excellence Awards, and has been featured on CNN Headline News. The T-RING will be featured in an upcoming medical segment of the business news series Networth, hosted by Terry Bradshaw. The segment focuses on topics, trends and issues related to "Improving Patient Outcomes through 21st Century Healthcare Solutions", as part of the show's Medical Minutes series. The T-RING has been extremely well received by primary care providers and specialists alike, and is widely distributed in the United States and internationally.
