This contract is a milestone, because it is the first time that the Texas DIR has awarded a contract specifically for healthcare information technology products and related services. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cooperative (Co-op) Contracts Program will extend the reach of the contract to other states that are part of the ICT Co-op.

With an annual spend of $1.16 billion through Texas DIR contracts, and with State budgets tightening, agencies are under increasing pressure to leverage innovative technologies such as HIPAA compliant Cloud Computing to operate more efficiently and more effectively.
