ZeroWater Scam Proven False as Unclean Water Becomes Urgent Problem
Residents in Appalachian drilling areas are facing increasing rates of water contamination. ZeroWater, ion-exchange water filter manufacturer, explains how such events stress the importance of clean water.

There are many advantages to living in a developed country where health and safety are paramount concerns for all residents. However, simple benefits, such as having clean drinking water or air, are not as widely available throughout America as many might expect. According to a recent article from The San Francisco Chronicle, citizens residing in the Kentucky region affected by Appalachian coal mining are reporting high levels of environmental damage and a decreased quality of life. While mining methods have caused forest, land and air quality damage they have also contaminated over 2,000 miles of streams - the life force that provides residents with drinking water. ZeroWater, a company dedicated to improving water quality, comments on how these situations must prompt immediate action. Many have endorsed various reports of a ZeroWater scam with claims stating that the innovative filtration products are not necessary for citizens living in America. However, as the article indicates, Kentucky residents are experiencing negative effects caused by aggressive mining practices. Jimmy Hall, resident of Letcher County explains, "They found arsenic and lead from nearby mining operations in my well water. It's not just me -- my neighbors have the same problem. Many of them are chronically ill, and some have died."
ZeroWater explains that when death occurs from drinking local water, residents must be aware that the source is not only dirty, it is toxic. In the case of Letcher County, the area's water department has called residents explicitly instructing, "Do not drink the water." However, for many residents who have grown up and resided in these communities for years, it's hard for them to turn their backs on their hometown.
According to The San Francisco Chronicle residents are waiting for government action to clean-up the water supply; they hope for an in-depth response from the Environmental Protection Agency to address the area's Clean Water Act violations. However, ZeroWater officials state that waiting for a solution may be ineffective and residents should consider the use of a water filtration system instead. While some may opt for reverse-osmosis systems, installation can be expensive; ZeroWater filter systems, however, are relatively affordable and offer the only approved water filtration system that produces the same qualities found in purified bottle water.
In a recent statement, the company responds, "We at ZeroWater are hopeful that the residents of mining communities all over the country can remain confident in their local municipalities to deliver safe drinking water. Since our product is designed to remove contaminants like lead and arsenic, our hope is to provide a more economical and environmentally sound alternative to expensive measures."
