Raleigh Little Theatre Presents Award Winning Drama The Piano Lesson

The Piano Lesson, directed by Haskell Fitz-Simmons, will be presented at the Sutton Main Stage Theatre on October 8th through the 24th.

RALEIGH, NC, October 03, 2010

Raleigh Little Theatre is pleased to present the upcoming production of The Piano Lesson October 8-24 at the Sutton Main Stage Theatre directed by Haskell Fitz-Simons. This drama is part of August Wilson's "Century Cycle" about African-American life in the 20th century and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1990.

Set in 1936 in Pittsburg, The Piano Lesson tells the story of a brother and sister who fight to claim "the piano," a family heirloom carved with the images of their enslaved ancestors, a significant part of their family history. Their story creates a remarkable drama about more than a piano: it is a ghost story demanding an exorcism of the past, a tale of murder without villains, and a lesson about social change in a time of cultural and economic upheaval reminiscent of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard.

Tickets for The Piano Lesson are $20 for adults and $16 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.raleighlittletheatre.org or from the RLT Box Office at 919-821-3111.

Show Times:
October 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23 at 8 p.m.
October 10, 17, 24 at 3 p.m.
