PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 03, 2010
Two veteran, tenacious and talented attorneys have recently joined the growing practice of one of Philadelphia's premier personal injury law firms, MyPhillyLawyer. The firm, also known as Silvers, Langsam & Weitzman, P.C., has brought in Todd Richman, who has more than 17 years of experience representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases, and Robert S. Nix, who has spent the last 13 years practicing and teaching law.
Richman, a 1993 graduate of the Widener School of Law, comes to MyPhillyLawyer with an extensive background in personal injury cases, including jury trials and arbitration experience. Richman has handled a myriad of case scenarios, from automobile collisions to premises liability to catastrophic injuries and negligence cases.
Before joining MyPhillyLawyer, Richman practiced law with PollackSteinberg LLP in Bucks County, Pa. Originally from Upper Dublin Township in Montgomery County, Richman lives in the county and is active in several community and business development organizations throughout the Delaware Valley.
"I'm proud to be a member of a team of professionals who always go the extra mile to provide compassionate and vigorous representation of seriously-injured individuals," Richman said about joining MyPhillyLawyer.
Away from his legal work, Richman is an avid guitarist and passionate music lover who played professionally in the past with a local rock band. He's a huge Phillies fan and loves yellow Lab retrievers.
He did his undergraduate studies at Villanova University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Nix is actually returning to MyPhillyLawyer, where he worked as a law clerk back in 1995 when he was a first-year law student at the Temple University School of Law. During law school, he clerked for Federal Judge Clifford Scott Green of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. At Temple, he served on the Law Review.
After earning his law degree in 1997, Nix has been specializing in general commercial litigation, bankruptcy and product liability cases.
One of his passions as an attorney is helping to bring quality legal services to underserved communities, which is one of his goals as he joins MyPhillyLawyer.
"It is an exciting opportunity for someone with my experience and skills to come back to where I started here at Silvers, Langsam & Weitzman," Nix said. "They welcomed me back like I've always been here."
A native of Laredo, Texas, Nix moved with his family to western Pennsylvania when he was 10 years old, but has never forgotten his Texas roots. He is fluent in Spanish and is a longtime board member of the Hispanic Bar Assoc of Pennsylvania, where he is chairman of the government relations committee.
Nix comes to MyPhillyLawyer after working most recently for the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he provided lawyer referral and intake services for clients. He worked for Pepper Hamilton LLP from 1998 to 2004 as an associate and also formerly practiced law as a litigation attorney with Philadelphia's Langsam Stevens & Silver LLP.
In addition, Nix teaches political science at Manor College in Jenkintown.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral science from the University of Maryland.
Nix, who is married and has three daughters, lives in Philadelphia. He plays competitive men's tennis and is actively involved in local politics, including an unsuccessful run for the state senate in the third senatorial district in 2008.
