Lutheran Camping Corporation Receives $23,000 for Capacity Building and Sustainability.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation grant benefits Lutheran nonprofit.

APPLETON, WI, August 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania, PO Box 459, Arendtsville, PA, recently received a $23,000 grant from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The grant will provide the financial resources needed to allow The Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania (LCC) to increase its efforts to grow its ministry by increasing the number of persons who generously contribute to the ministry in financial and other ways.

"This grant from Thrivent is a blessing to our ministry and will allow us to put into place a variety of activities to promote our ministry and its needs to those with the capacity to support what we do," said Michael Youse, Executive Director, LCC.

"We are delighted to assist LCC through this grant," said Tim Schwan, vice president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. "We trust that this support will strengthen LCC's ministry to those it serves."

The grant is part of the foundation's Lutheran Grant Program. This program is designed to assist Lutheran organizations and those they serve in achieving economic security and sustainability. In 2011, the program distributed more than $2 million through 44 separate grants.

Eligible grant applicants include: Lutheran congregations, regional divisions of the three largest church bodies, small church bodies, high schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, camps, campus ministries, social ministry organizations and other independent Lutheran organizations or institutions.

The LCC provides outdoor ministry for the congregations of the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the ELCA and others. LCC has three ministry sites in central PA, Camp Kirchenwald, Camp Nawakwa, and Wittel Farm, where it provides summer church camp and conducts retreats. Additionally, LCC hosts church retreats, school outdoor education events, family gatherings, and other events.
