Photographer Thurman Jones Wins First Place in Debut at Indiana State Fair

Mr. Jones' photograph won the top prize in the Black and White Nature/Flora category for the non-professional division.

2012-08-29
CHARLESTOWN, IN, August 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Southern Indiana photographer, Thurman Jones, took first place for his photo "A Different Perspective" at this year's Indiana State Fair, which continues until August 19, 2012 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

Mr. Jones' photograph won the top prize in the Black and White Nature/Flora category for the non-professional division. The Indiana State Fair designates non-professionals as those who earn less than half their income from photography. Categories for the photo contest range from Black & White Portraits to Human Interest.

With an eclectic photography style, Mr. Jones has always been drawn to black and white photos and finds them moving. He is also a fan of the "grungy" look, which he feels "depicts some attitude and is a little dark and mysterious."

As an Indiana native, Mr. Jones began taking photographs during his childhood, which developed into a life-long passion of capturing images of animals and nature. In addition, he established Thurman Jones Photography in 2011 to offer portrait and photography services to families, high-school seniors, and pets throughout Southern Indiana.

Mr. Jones has also won numerous other awards for his photography, including the 2011 Charlestown State Park Amateur Photo Contest in the Wildlife and Nature category and the 2012 Clark County Soil and Water Conservation District Photo Contest in the Landscape, On the Farm, and Wildlife categories.

Additionally, Mr. Jones' work has been featured in the Indiana Preservationist (May-June 2010), Southern Indiana Landmarks through the Viewfinder traveling photo exhibit (2010), and the Kentucky State Fair (2009-2011).

Homeopathic Doctor Thomas Lodi Explains There Is No Such Thing As Junk Food

2012-08-29
Junk is defined by the dictionary as, "anything that is regarded as worthless, meaningless, or contemptible". Clearly, this is the antithesis of the definition for 'food' therefore to say that there is something known as 'junk food' is like saying that 'water flows up hill' or "he is nice-mean" or "my uncle is fat-thin". Junk is defined similarly as poison. There is no such thing as 'junk food'. There is only food or poison. In order to examine any subject, it is essential to define the words and/or concepts that are at the heart of the ...
