CAI Analyzes North Carolina Salary Projections In 2012 Wage & Salary Survey Results

Survey Results Show Steady Rise In Budgets For Annual Salary Increases

2012-09-09
RALEIGH, NC, September 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) Bruce Clarke, president and CEO of CAI (http://www.capital.org), a human resource management firm that helps organizations maximize employee engagement while minimizing employer liability, announced the results of its 2012 Wage & Salary Survey. The comprehensive and in-depth survey of 452 unique organizations, more than 478 facilities and 81,917 employees throughout the state of North Carolina reflects consistent and steady increases in annual salary budgets across organizations.

According to the results, of all 452 companies surveyed, wages and salaries for 2013 are expected to increase at a projected rate of 2.5 percent. Of the 452 companies evaluated, 15 percent reported no pay increase projected for 2013. This number has fallen by 37 percent over the last four years. The average base pay for organizations in 2013, excluding companies that are currently projecting no increase, is expected to rise at a projected rate of 3 percent. Prior to the recession, the average annual pay increase was approximately 4 percent.

CAI's annual Wage & Salary Survey is the most widespread salary survey conducted of North Carolina employers, representing the Piedmont Triad, Research Triangle Park, Southeastern North Carolina and Eastern North Carolina. The annual survey covers company wage structure and pay practices, current year/projected base pay increases, and detailed job data for 360 jobs. Participating employers provided data on a voluntary and confidential basis. The results of this data are used as a compensation guide for North Carolina and as a tool to be used in making informed compensation decisions. The reported salary data is effective as of April 2012, reflecting annualized base pay only for full-time equivalent positions.

QUOTES:
"We are pleased to see the projection of North Carolina wage and salary increases across a wide range of industries," said Molly Hegeman, CAI's director of HR services. "Although the recession has directly impacted North Carolina, our state and its employers are making improvements and remaining competitive in their industries. These wage and salary increases are strong indicators that the improving economic climate is allowing the necessary progress for our state to become as strong - if not stronger - than it has been in the past."
