Monica Smiley Elected To Institute For Economic Empowerment Of Women Board Of Directors

CARY, NC, September 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine (http://www.enterprisingwomen.com), has announced that she was recently elected to the board of directors of the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women to grow their businesses, pursue greater entrepreneurial ventures, and become more active public policy advocates. In her role, Smiley will be responsible for promoting IEEW's PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS program, as well as guiding other initiatives that encourage the worldwide development of women entrepreneurs.

Smiley and Enterprising Women's partnership with IEEW began at the organization's inception six years ago. During this time, Smiley has developed mentoring relationships with women from Rwanda and Afghanistan who have participated in IEEW's PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS program and has selected one student from each country each year to receive the prestigious Enterprising Women of the Year Award. PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS connects businesswomen in the United States with budding Afghani and Rwandan women entrepreneurs to develop economic and social success in their home countries.
