Texas Judge Exonerates Three in 1994 Robbery Case
Three Texas men convicted of aggravated robbery nearly two decades ago were formally declared innocent by a district judge in Dallas on April 6, 2012. It was the first time three convictions have been overturned at once in Dallas, where there have been 30 exonerations since 2001 -- more than any other county in Texas.
The three men -- Darryl Washington, Shakara Roberts and Marcus Lashun Smith -- were originally convicted of aggravated robbery for a 1994 purse-snatching involving an elderly woman. They were three of ...

Overview of Workers' Compensation Claims in New Jersey
Workers who are injured while acting within the scope of their employment are eligible to receive full payment for all of their medical costs, lost wage benefits and a disability award at the end of their case. New Jersey is a "no-fault" workers' compensation state, meaning that even employees who contribute to their own injuries can still receive benefits under workers' compensation.
Workers' compensation functions as an insurance system. Its design is to allow workers to recover for injuries despite ...

New Jersey Construction Can Take a Heavy Toll on Workers' Backs
Back injuries are the leading cause of missed work in the United States. It should come as no surprise that construction workers are more susceptible to back injuries than those in almost any other industry. In fact, 25 percent of injuries to construction workers involve the back. One in 100 construction workers miss a week or more of work due to a back injury every year. Liberty Mutual, a workers' compensation insurance provider, estimates that overexertion injuries are the main cause of back injuries to ...

Trying to keep a divorce low-conflict may be a means to a better relationship in the future, especially when a couple has children and can anticipate seeing each other often over the years to come. But, when a couple tries to split without making too many waves, the ...

Need Commercial Space or Want to Reduce Overhead? Consider Subleasing
A significant portion of any business' budget goes toward operating its physical space. Finding the perfect location, appropriate space and cost-effective commercial property is paramount to running a successful company.
A business may not have the necessary resources to build or purchase its own property outright. Additionally, a potential tenant may be wary of entering into a long-term lease with a landlord, with its associated costs and higher risk. Similarly, a business with an existing lease ...

New Law Supports International Child Support Cooperation
New York child support determinations are vital to the future wellbeing of children with parents who live apart.
