ARVADA, CO, October 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Who said engineers don't know how to have fun? Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) staff recently enjoyed all things pie - all day long - to raise funding for Colorado's blind children at the 2nd annual Cherrity Pie Festival. A benefit for Denver's Anchor Center for Blind Children, the event drew in more than 375 attendees and raised over $20,000 in charitable donations for Anchor Center.
Anchor Center for Blind Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching visually impaired infants, young children and their families, while providing hope and a nurturing environment where children reach their highest potential.
"Funds from the 2nd Annual Cherrity Pie Festival will be used to support Anchor Center's infant, toddler and preschool programs. Programs such as literacy for our preschool children. During classroom time, preschoolers rotate groups and teachers to learn different skills in each setting. Each month, all the groups plan their activities based on a story and song of the month. Each story/song of the month has several categories including: pre-braille/low vision, sensory/orientation & mobility, cooking/snacks, dramatic play/environmental set-up, motor (indoor/outdoor), hand and communication skills.
