The North Carolina Holiday Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach
November 23 -24, 2012
This event traditionally attracts more than 50,000 people and has been named one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for 2012. The Holiday Flotilla offers numerous events during Thanksgiving Day weekend.

• Anchors Away Launch Party - November 23 at 7:00 p.m.
Enjoy an evening of live entertainment, a silent auction, great food and good times with live music by Brickhouse band at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort. Tickets are $25 per person.
• Festival in the Park - November 24 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This year's festival at Wrightsville Beach Park will include a large play area for children (complete with inflatables and bounce houses), arts and crafts by local merchants and artisans, an antique car show, and plenty of festival food. This event is free and open to the public.
• Flotilla Boat Parade - November 24 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
For the past 28 years on Thanksgiving Day weekend, Wrightsville Beach's Intracoastal Waterway has been transformed into a dazzling display of as many as 50 decorated yachts and boats featuring creative holiday characters, snowy winter scenes and Christmas trees during this beloved boat parade. Lighted boats will be judged in a variety of categories, including the "People's Choice" award for the first time this year, as parade spectators are invited to vote for their favorite entry via text message. A dazzling fireworks display will mark the end of the parade.

Turkey Trot
November 22, 2012 at 8:00 a.m.
Wrightsville Beach-goers are all about maintaining an active lifestyle, and Thanksgiving is no exception. Help ward off those extra holiday pounds by participating in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. This eighth annual event includes a 5K timed run and 1-mile walk around the scenic Wrightsville Beach Loop. Registration is $25 in advance for 5K runners and $30 on event day; registration is $15 for 1-mile walkers. Children 10 and under are free.

"Enchanted Airlie"
Begins November 23, 2012
Also named as one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for 2012, visitors can explore the nearby Airlie Gardens decorated in all their holiday splendor, as well as festive lights and live musical entertainment. Bring the kids to see a LEGO display featuring more than 250,000 colorful bricks! Tickets for Enchanted Airlie are not available at the gate or during the event, so you'll need to purchase tickets in advance on Airlie Gardens' website or at Airlie Gardens' office during normal business hours. Tickets range in price from $4 per individual to $22 per carload. Make sure to plan ahead since this popular event often sells out!

Black Friday Shopping
