Mark Cartwright of Dallas: New ADHD Studies Focus on Conditions, Treatments

Mayo Clinic researchers have presented two new studies, highlighting new ideas in the treatment of ADHD; these studies have won the attention of Mark Cartwright of Dallas.

2012-11-05
PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) ADHD is a condition that afflicts many children and adults throughout the United States, but researchers from the Mayo Clinic have presented two new studies that could have a big impact on the way the condition is treated. These new studies focus on early intervention in the lives of children who have ADHD, as well as on the more precise diagnosis of underlying conditions, which sometimes complicate the treatment of ADHD. These new studies have won the attention of Mark Cartwright, a Dallas psychologist and healthcare professional who has long worked with ADHD patients.

The new studies hinge on the idea that greater input, from parents as well as teachers, can dramatically improve the efficacy of ADHD treatments. Better understanding the specific manifestations of ADHD in a child's life and behavior can help doctors to intervene more effectively. Mayo researchers found that they were able to significantly improve the results of initial consultations, when teachers and parents were more compliant in providing pertinent diagnostic information.

These twin studies have captured the attention of Mark Cartwright of Dallas. Dr. Cartwright has issued a new press statement, weighing in on the promising new ADHD research.

"ADHD is a disorder that has been diagnosed more and more in a variety of populations," remarks Mark Cartwright. "It is of extreme importance that we begin to further consider the symptoms and comorbid conditions of other related disorders such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Tourette's syndrome, learning disabilities, and other behavioral and mood related disorders. The 'which came first, the chicken or the egg' argument remains an important debate and we must better learn how these comorbid conditions may be playing a related role in how we perceive and ultimately treat these disorders."

Dr. Cartwright goes on to speak from his own experience as a mental healthcare provider. "As a clinician I feel it is important that we continue research in this area at our academic institutions, and implement strategies at the clinical, school, and community-based levels," he observes. "At Carewright Clinical Services we understand the importance of these issues and strive to effectively treat ADHD and its comorbid disorders with the most effective and empirically validated strategies."

Dr. Mark Cartwright of Dallas is a clinician whose background is in school psychology, and whose independent evaluations and treatments are geared toward populations with ADHD and related conditions. In addition, Dr. Cartwright has worked extensively in treating anxiety disorders, Alzheimer's, and a variety of other mental health conditions.
