Michael Cerrusi Applauds Launch of Toyota's High School Safe Driving Program

Toyota's new safe driving program, The Road Ahead, is supported by driving instructor Michael Cerrusi.

2012-12-14
PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Driving is a privilege that most individuals take for granted, as many people within the United States take to the road after earning their license during their teenage years. This transition from passenger to driver is one that weighs heavily on the minds of parents, as they often fear the worst as their teens head out on their own. The launch of Toyota's new high school safe teen driving program, called The Road Ahead, may put some parents at ease. A new initiative based in Southern California, the program aims to teach students about the importance of safe driving--and how to practice it. Michael Cerrusi, founder of Cerrusi Driving School and noted driving instructor, applauds the efforts of the car manufacturer to encourage safety and educate teens regarding the ways in which they can protect themselves and other drivers when they hit the road.

The Sacramento Bee reports: "Designed to educate and empower teens about road safety, the program engages students with high-impact video, live presentations and a distracted driving demonstration to teach them how to prepare, concentrate and observe the road ahead. During the simulated distracted driving experience, students will observe and understand the dangers associated with distractions behind the wheel."

The program will be made available to students during regularly scheduled school hours and is free of charge to those who participate. Michael Rouse, vice president of diversity, philanthropy, and community affairs at Toyota, is looking forward to the positive impact that the program is expected to have on the safety of teens who are driving.

"By bringing The Road Ahead to Southern California high schools, students will gain critical knowledge to help them become responsible drivers," Rouse notes. "With motor vehicle crashes remaining the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, it's important for Toyota to expand upon Toyota Driving Expectations [the initiative of which The Road Ahead is a part] in order to impact even more young drivers."

Michael Cerrusi believes that this program has the potential to truly assist in decreasing accidents among teenagers. "Teenagers are so eager to get behind the wheel," Cerrusi comments, "and they may not quite realize how much of a responsibility that driving really is, as they have ridden in cars all their lives. Teaching them how to drive safely, and why safety is important in the first place, is the best way to prepare teenagers to successfully operate motor vehicles."

Archer Travel Advocates More Vacation Days for U.S. Workers

The executive leadership team at Archer Travel is advocating for U.S. employers to extend more vacation days to their workers. The California-based travel agency, which was established in 1952, has observed how U.S. workers have been offered a declining number of vacation days in the last two decades. With an economic recession and more jobs going overseas, many U.S. workers are unlikely to take the few vacation days that are offered them. In the United States, vacation days offered to employees in the private sector are a benefit that is not legally required. Executives ...
