Airwave Networks Rolls Out Gigabit Wireless Microcells to the Student Housing Industry

Airwave networks introduces Gi-Fi Service, utilizing an innovative managed microcell configuration to accomplish incredible wireless Internet speeds.

ANNAPOLIS, MD, February 19, 2013 (Press-News.org) Airwave Networks, the leader in providing high speed wired and wireless Internet and technology services to the Student Housing Industry, has introduced a new wireless service that provides up to 1Gigabit of wireless service to any residential unit. Airwave's Gi-Fi Service utilizes an innovative managed microcell configuration to accomplish incredible wireless Internet speeds. "We are very excited to provide this new service. Our microcell Gi-Fi service addresses many of the issues surrounding the delivery of amenity wireless system in student housing complexes. It virtually eliminates RF interference problems and provides reliable high quality video downloads. It represents a real and viable option for scalable, wireless upgrade solutions for our customers. This technology should satisfy the needs of our customers for many years to come" said Bill Rinard, CEO of Airwave Networks.

Wireless technology has evolved very quickly over the years and this trend is expected to continue. The Airwave Networks' RF design team recognized the need to develop a solution that provided for timely wireless upgrades for ultra-high bandwidth users at student communities. "Gi-Fi microcells are a cost effective, state-of-the-art resident wireless solution, which meet both the technological and economic needs of this market. We see this as another key discriminator for our service" said John Baloga, CIO of Airwave Networks.

The wireless service is currently in test at one Airwave Networks served property, and the company expects to offer Gi-Fi capability to all of their customers by the beginning of March 2013.
