SAN DIEGO, CA, October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) In an interview with Supply Chain Digital, Warwick Kinscher, General Manager of Vossloh Cogifer Australia, reveals the history behind his company as well as how they stay on track in the rail manufacturing industry.
"We make rail and we make the steel work components that actually do the switching and the crossing, and a couple of other pieces of rail will fit into it," explains Warwick Kinscher in the article. "We actually own the intellectual properties and work very closely with the bearer manufacturers, so at the customer's request we actually supply the whole kit."
The Company is now developing more of a customer focus, as their customer base has diversified in Australia over the last ten years. Fifteen years ago, Vossloh supplied to six or seven government authorities because the state governments ran the railroads in Australia. In fifteen years, that business has privatized, franchised, broken up and has been distributed.
"The railroads are now being run as private corporations," says Kinscher. "Even if they're publicly owned, they're a semi-non government organization operating on very much a commercial basis."
