PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) According to a recent article from USA Today, a new survey reveals how addicted America is to coffee, but Paragon Cafe West Wyalong coffee shop, argues that the trend could also apply to rest of the world. In the article, USA Today highlights new findings recently published from a National Coffee Association study in the United States. It found that, "About 83 percent of adults drink coffee in the U.S., the world's biggest consumer of the beverage, up from 78 percent a year earlier...That's an average of three cups a day per person, or 587 million cups."
Although the survey focuses on coffee-drinking trends in America alone, the staff at Paragon Cafe West Wyalong note that it is hardly a pattern recognized only in the U.S. In a recent press statement, Paragon Cafe explains, "As a local hot spot, we are constantly meeting the coffee needs of West Wyalong residents. Not only have we found that the demand for coffee in Australia is high, but that consumers appreciate blends that come from their home country. As such, we have noticed great popularity from the Melbourne-based blend that we use on a daily basis."
While the article notes an increase in coffee consumption, it suggests that many drinkers have turned to brewing at home, such as through use of self-serve devices that employ single-use coffee cups. In its press statement, Paragon Cafe West Wyalong comments, "While it is encouraging to see more consumers appreciating coffee, it is disheartening to see that it has become more of a commodity and less of a social experience. Paragon Cafe strives to uphold the familiar qualities of a local coffee shop, and is committed to inviting residents to a friendly atmosphere. We hope that more coffee drinkers will try to experience the popular beverage in this way."
Although some trends in the survey may suggest that coffee is becoming less of an art and more of a commercial good, the article also indicates that more people are searching for gourmet coffee drinks. "The concept that people are expanding their literacy of coffee drinks is inspiring, especially for baristas. We encourage more people to experiment with the types of coffee they enjoy and find out just how diverse this drink can be," Paragon Cafe West Wyalong concludes in its press statement.
