Medical Lighting Systems Introduces Med-Filter16 for MRI Suites, SCIF Rooms, and other Shielded Room Applications

MedFilter16 is an Integrated EMI/RF filter and penetration panel that facilitates installation of MLS' line of specialized LED illuminators and LED overhead fixtures in MRI Rooms, SCIF Rooms, and other Shielded Room applications.

2010-10-29
SANTA ANA, CA October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) Medical Lighting Systems (MLS), a leading provider of LED illumination solutions for the Healthcare industry, today announced the availability of its newly developed Med-Filter16 -- a filter integrated penetration panel. It is a unique solution to provide EMI/RF filtered power for MRI suites, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) areas, Tempest Facilities, and areas where power needs to be passed though an RF shielded wall. The Med-Filter16 features sixteen, 2-wire, MIL-STD-220B individually filtered circuits that operate from 0 to 250 VDC or VAC at 35 amps per circuit. It includes 32 separate EMI/RF filtered power-line ports configured on a single penetration panel.

Taking a systems approach to LED illumination in MRI suites, the Med-Filter16 combined with MLS' remote power supply enables easy installation of an entire LED lighting and visual therapy package. MLS' MRI-safe LED illumination system includes its recently introduced LED Visual Therapy Illuminators and LED overhead lighting fixtures.

Med-Filter16 provides optimized filtration, meeting or exceeding MIL-STD-220B with 100dB attenuation from 100kHz to 10 GHz. The sealed filter compartment is constructed of plated steel. It has removable input and output covers for terminal access and field-wiring connections. Dual input/output wire openings accept ¾" conduit fittings, and the entire systems requires only a 12" x 6" penetration into the shielded room, protruding 2.575 inches from the wall into the shielded room and 7.064 inches from the wall outside the shielded room.

A complete LED illumination system from MLS with Med-Filter16 providing EMI/RF filtered power is also effective for SCIF and other shielded facilities. In addition, the versatile MedFilter16 can be used to filter power to a variety of other electrical components in these specialized shielded rooms. It is manufactured to the highest quality standards and is easy-to-install. Med-Filter16 is available as part of MLS' LED illumination system or as a stand-alone component.

Medical Lighting Systems (MLS) is a leading provider of LED illumination solutions for the Healthcare industry. MLS' Visual Therapy Illuminators feature an innovative LED-Array light source from ION Light Engines that utilizes low voltage, Class II power. MLS' products are fully recyclable, UL, C-UL and CE-listed, meet RoHS specifications and contribute points to LEED certified buildings, while also qualifying for commercial tax rebates. http://www.medicallightingsytems.com
