Waterfi Releases Completely Waterproof Nano

The 7th generation iPod Nano has been enhanced by Waterfi and is submersible down to 25 feet.

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 27, 2013

The boundaries of consumer electronics just got pushed a bit further. Waterfi is proud to announce their newest innovation: the fully waterproof 7th generation iPod Nano. Waterproofed by Waterfi from the inside out, the latest Nano can be added to any activity worry free - from swimming, surfing, kiteboarding, skiing, and snowboarding - all without an external case.

Waterfi's latest offering brings one of the best selling media players to the active world. Thanks to Waterfi's pioneering efforts in the area of waterproofing, the patent pending Dual Layer process takes the factory fresh Apple iPod Nano and enhances it, freeing the Nano to be fully immersed in water down to 25ft. The process is undetectable so all the cutting edge functionality of the Apple iPod Nano - Bluetooth capability, FM radio with live rewind/pause, Nike+ Fitness, video playback and capacity to hold and play thousands of songs - is left entirely intact.

"People often stare in shock and disbelief when they spot an iPod in the pool without any kind of outer casing, but it's completely safe. Waterfi products are not simply water resistant as others may be, they are fully waterproof." explained Waterfi Spokeswomen Sonia Nelson. She also explained in greater detail the proprietary Dual Layer process developed over the last 4 years by Waterfi President Royce Nicholas. She describes the process as "A Dual Layer of protection and insulation from water, sweat, sand, corrosion, and other environmental threats." The first layer is a unique rubbery compound on the inside of the device, filling every crack and crevice to surround the electrical innards in a watertight cushion. The second layer is then applied for added corrosion-proofing and to strengthen the electrical insulation up to 40,000 volts.

Waterfi was founded in 2010 to free popular gadgets from liquid-related constraints and allow them to be included in everyday active lives. The company's stated mission: to create waterproof electronics that enable active people to improve sport performance and make exercising more enjoyable.

Waterfi began when founder Royce Nicholas created a unique waterproofing solution for the Apple iPod Shuffle. Royce showed the Waterproof iPod to a select group of friends and began to offer it online at various e-commerce sites. The feedback he received for that initial waterproof iPod Shuffle was extremely positive and he soon began to expand that process to other gadgets. The ability to combine beloved electronic devices with water activities has been described by some as "addictive and compelling." As of now, Waterfi is still the only company in the world offering a complete, waterproof solution for a variety of electronics, including the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, Nike+ FuelBand, and now Apple's 7th generation iPod Nano.
