ALAMEDA, CA, May 02, 2013 (Press-News.org) Tagline: "You were taught to be afraid of the dark. Now you will learn to fear the light."
Synopsis: The world has been rid of all vampires by a mysterious assassin named Ian MacBane. Or has it? MacBane, a vampire himself, has been living in isolation feeding his existence with a serum to avoid drinking the blood of the mortals he sought to protect. Earning his vast wealth by sales of his famed artwork, MacBane receives an invitation to an event showcasing his paintings. Spurred by the musical guest appearance of a mystery lady who has literally haunted his dreams, and his beautiful paintings, MacBane heads to an isolated resort made entirely of glass. When he finally meets his beautiful ghost of a woman, Lorro, the resort is invaded by a cult of the last remaining vampires known as The Children of Judas. Now MacBane must protect his fair lady love from the vampire savages who are searching for the last remaining blood of their vampire queen in a bid to repopulate their vampire species once again.
MacBane has 14 hours until the light of dawn breaks through to save the woman of his dreams and stop a vampiric outbreak. Only 14 hours left until the Eve of White Nights... 3 weeks of bright light, 24 hours a day... Only 14 hours left for good to prevail.
Background: It's the Die Hard of the Underworld! Co-Creators Neil D'Monte & Neo Edmund wanted to make a throwback to the violent vampire flicks mixed with real life action- no glittering vampires here. In fact, the antihero spends part of the film in a weakened, deteriorated form. D'Monte insists on having a real man's man play the titular vampire character Ian MacBane. Similar to Bruce Willis in Die Hard or Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, he wanted a strong leading man who could handle his way around a knife, or a vein. This fast-paced blood-soaked action film is so macho that there are two A-list celebrities circling the project now. When D'Monte initially drew the character of MacBane, he had award winner Viggo Mortensen in mind. A few actresses are circling the role of Lorro, as well as a well-known rock band who is in talks to record the film soundtrack.
As for the comic book artwork and storyboarding aspects of the film, D'Monte is going for Blade-style action sequences and the awe-inspiring visage of What Dreams May Come to craft this violent love story. Stepping in to complete the master visuals of the comic book is colorist/letterer Jason Walton, whose previous credits include Serpent Wars and Gate of the East Wind.
Most recently the co-creators have finished a comic book and film, respectively. Edmund recently published his first novel Red Riding: Rise of the Alpha Huntress. He is also a writer for Zenescope comics like Jurassic Strike Force and 1000 Ways to Die. D'Monte flourishes in the horror film industry having completed Night of the Living Dead 3D: Reanimation, alongside Jeffrey Combs, and Coffin Baby (aka Toolbox Murders 2). He continues his artistry by storyboarding horror films, such as Day of the Dead and his latest being Thicker (currently in pre-production).
Release Dates: The graphic novel is tentatively set for release June 2013.
The $30 million film is currently in development now with producing partner Neal Fischer at Davis Films, and will head into pre-production after the release of the graphic novel.
