NEWARK, OH, May 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) In his WERA Expert debut, Cale Jones (#146) finished on the podium in every race he participated in at the Pirelli/WERA North Central Sportsman Series event at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan. Jones made his impressive first appearance onboard a Lozpah-Jones Racing sponsored 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 600, built by Hanshaw Racing Engines, finishing in third place in four feature races on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
The Sunday podium finishes weren't the only success for Jones this weekend. Having never ridden at Grattan Raceway, Jones took the opportunity to get familiar with the track for Sunday's events by riding in Saturday, May 4's non-points race. This resulted in a second place finish in the Middleweight Solo Expert Class, only seconds away from first - taken by a rider whose home track is Grattan.
"I started off slow this weekend, as I really had to focus on learning the track," said Jones. "After a few practice sessions, I settled in and everything started coming together. I'm very happy with the results this weekend and excited for what the rest of the season holds in store. I really want to thank the WERA organization for putting on a great event, and Jamie Hanshaw for building us an awesome engine. We can't wait to get to our home tracks in the Central Ohio rounds of the championship so we can really mix it up with these guys."
