The TMJ or Temporomandibular Joint and the Jaw position is closely linked to posture, particularly the Atlas and Axis vertebrae and how they connect to the occiput of the cranium and the rest of the spine.

Forward head posture is a major cause of chiropractic problems and headaches. It is related to the jaw position and the airway. It is essentially a major consideration in all patients with head and neck pain as well as low back pain.

Common problems like tinnitus and sinus pain are frequently also related. Dr Shapira works closely with Dr Mark Freund a chiropractor in Lindenhurst

"As a Chiropractor with experience, Dr. Freund is committed to promoting optimal health and well being of patients. He has been freeing people from pain as a Chiropractor since 1996. "

"Dr. Freund uses a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, Dr. Freund is able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health."

Dr Shapira and Dr Freund work together for patients going thru Cranial Sacral Therapy. Cranial work along with Neuromuscular Dentistry are powerful tools that allow them to help patients with long term problems. Many of these patients failed to achieve desired results in the past.

Dr Shapira has recently incorporated Epigenetic Orthodontics into his practice. It was developed by Dr Singh and can grow the jaws to their ideal position. This may offer a permanent cure for many patients TMJ and Sleep Disorders.

Dr Shapira studied Neuromuscular Dentistry with Dr Barney Jankelson who is considered the Father of Neuromuscular Dentistry and with Dr Robert Jankelson, his sone who wrote the textbook on Neuromuscular Dentistry. Dr Shapira wrote papers on Neuromuscular Dentistry that have been published by the American Equilibration Society (AES), ICCMO The International College of CranioMandibular Disorders and by Sleep and Health Journal.
