CARY, NC, May 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) LORD Corporation (http://www.lord.com/) has announced that Doug Lorenz, vice president of global business management, will speak at the 2013 Civil Aviation Manufacturing Conference running from Tuesday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 8 at the Renaissance Suites Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. The theme of the conference, "Five Trends to Drive Manufacturing Improvement," will unite major civil aviation manufacturers and suppliers in discussions on design for manufacturing, automation, tools, software and processes, LEAN 4.0 and strategies for taking operations to a global scale. Attendees will gain valuable insight on fly-to-buy ratios across the supply chain, as well as clarity and fidelity around the hiring requirements in support of civil aviation manufacturing.

In his role as vice president of global business management, Lorenz is responsible for strategic planning, global profit and loss management across all value streams, global sourcing, and global marketing and program management. As part of a corporate effort to expand globally, Lorenz spent three years in Shanghai, China, where he led a team of 200 employees and helped increase sales in the Chinese region of LORD by 300 percent while gaining operational and supply chain experience in both chemical and mechanical plants. Lorenz earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the nation's oldest technological institute located in Troy, N.Y. He graduated from the Chicago Booth Executive Institute in 2011.
