2010-10-31
GZIRA, MALTA, October 31, 2010 (Press-News.org) Altaro Launch Backup FS for Microsoft Servers
October 20, 2010 - Valletta, Malta: Altaro Software, a developer of Continuous Data Protection products for desktops and laptops in SOHOs and SMB environments, today announced the launch of Backup FS for Microsoft Servers. Aimed at SMB IT administrators and consultants, this newest addition to the Altaro range, which already includes the successful Oops!Backup for SMBs and home users, offers all the popular tools of its predecessor such as BackinTime Technology and Reverse Delta, plus new features like the ability to receive restored files via email and advanced scheduling functionalities. Altaro Software, a Microsoft BizSpark programme member, already supplies Oops!Backup worldwide directly and through its reseller network, and it plans to replicate the success of its flagship product with Backup FS.

The extreme ease of use of the product does not indicate a compromise on features; the Reverse Delta technology used in Altaro's Backup FS allows users to carry out incremental backups i.e. it saves the changes between file versions rather than the entire file. This means that less precious space is taken up on the drive, accelerating the backup process and making it more cost-effective. Differently from competing technologies however, ReverseDelta ensures that the latest version of a file is always available in its entirety.

Altaro's solutions support NAS drives and other external drives, as well as file Server Shares; in addition they are fully automatic and support Microsoft Small Business Server, Windows 2008, Windows 2003, Windows 7, Vista and XP. Their performance has earned them a reputation for ease of use, fast and reliable backup, and easy file recovery; as a result the products have gained an impressive fan-base including PC World (USA), PC Advisor (USA) and TechRepublic.

David Vella, CEO of Altaro Software, says: 'We are proud of our track record for fast, reliable, cost-effective backup products and outstanding customer service and support. The UK is a key region for Altaro as it is for most IT vendors, and therefore we are looking forward to expanding the success of our brand in this market.'

Altaro's Oops!Backup for desktop PCs and laptops, first launched in 2009, today boasts over 1,600 customers and 6,000 users worldwide with the majority being located in the US and the UK.

Pricing and Availability

Backup FS is available now worldwide from Altaro and from its network of resellers with prices starting at GBP79/EUR79/$99 for one server with unlimited users.
