One's home is a place where they typically feel the safest. This, however, may not be the case if the home contains a faulty or dangerous product. Faulty products may result in injury and can make an individual's home a hazardous place. These products may range from a toy that is too small resulting in a child's choking to a toaster oven that has an electrical short and starts on fire.
It is essential for the consumer to know about these products. It is equally important that the consumer is able to participate in recalls when a product is known to cause problems. If injury does result, the consumer can take further steps towards holding the manufacturer accountable for the defective product and the resulting injury.
Products that are currently being recalled
Being aware of the current recalls is crucial to protecting individuals and their families. One such product currently up for recall is the Santa Cruz Jr. snorkeling mask. These masks were sold nation wide from March 2011 to July 2012. The masks pose a threat because the tempered glass has notches that may break under pressure. Also included in the recall are Martinique LX Jr. and Martinique Jr. snorkeling masks for similar reasons.
Recalls do not only include children's toys. A Jerdon Style Model CM12B coffee maker is also on current recall lists. This product was sold in the United States from July 2012 to January 2013. This coffeemaker can overheat and poses a threat to consumers by direct injury or by starting a fire in the consumer's home.
One other surprising recall is of pre-lit artificial Christmas trees made by Redwood Pacific Limited. These trees were sold from July 2012 to December 2012 and have been known to have electrical issues. The remote control box may overheat and melt, causing electrical shock or burn injuries.
To best protect one's family from dangerous products, it is essential to keep up to date on product recalls. Recalls act as safety precautions and, when followed, can save lives.
When a product fails and an injury results
Even the consumer who keeps up with every product recall may come across a faulty product within their home. When manufacturers do not do their duty to create a safe product they may be found liable for damages that result.
These damages are set in place in order to help the injured party to be made whole. Injured parties can seek damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and compensation for the pain and suffering that resulted from the accident. In extremely unfortunate circumstances, family members are also able to bring forth a claim for a wrongful death.
No injured consumer, family member or child should have to suffer because of a faulty product. When an injury occurs, contacting an experienced personal injury attorney is an imperative step on an individual's road to recovery. Injured persons must protect their rights and hold companies responsible damages caused by their products.
Faulty products in the home can cause personal injury
Products are constantly being added to recall lists to avoid personal injury to the consumer. It is important to understand when a company is liable for manufacturing faulty products.
