Alfa Art Gallery Presents "Reminiscent Brushtrokes," Artist Vesselin Kourtev's Solo Exhibition Opening

Alfa Art Gallery is proud to announce "Reminiscent Brushstrokes," the upcoming exhibition of Alfa Art Gallery's founder and resident artist, Vesselin Kourtev.

2013-05-31
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, May 31, 2013 (Press-News.org) Vesselin Kourtev
Oil Color and Mixed Media
Opening reception: June 1st
Exhibition Duration: June 1st through June 29th

Alfa Art Gallery is proud to announce "Reminiscent Brushstrokes," the upcoming exhibition of Alfa Art Gallery's founder and resident artist, Vesselin Kourtev. Following his last exhibition, "The Messages," Vesselin continues to explore the abstract world he has created that connects what is seen by the eyes and the mind. With the continued use of organic shapes and heavy references to traditionalist styles of the past, Vesselin brings a new perspective in this exhibition by taking his paintings further into a spiritual realm. With ethereal figures intertwining themselves within powerful strokes of vibrant color, the viewer questions the relationship with the ghosts of the past and the present. It is rare to see an artist merge figurative work with abstract work as seamlessly as Vesselin. He creates energetic spaces in his paintings, with faces peeking out from broad planes of lively color; figures emerge from sweeping abstract landscapes, connecting the past and the present. Vesselin's work is harmonious - controlled but spontaneous, abstract but organic, and extremely true to self-expression. His work appears to be sure of itself and meticulously thought out, but there is still that quality of conceptualism that lends to its modern innovation - a modern innovation that nods to the past and looks to the future.

A formally taught artist, Vesselin's paintings are heavily inspired by the ideals of the Symbolist and the Arts and Crafts Movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He has spent many years exhibiting around the world in Bulgaria and Europe, and he has worked in the National School of Stage and Film Design in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In "Reminiscent Brushstrokes," we will see a glimpse of Vesselin's body of work throughout the years - we will see the development and evolution of his art and of a style that is characteristically unique.
