ATLANTA, GA, June 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) Visix will exhibit in booth 4142 at InfoComm 2013 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, June 12-14. The company will show a wide variety of integrated digital signage solutions.
"This year, we're highlighting the effectiveness of the technology instead of just the components," says Sean Matthews, President of Visix. "By focusing on the desired result of using digital signage, instead of just the feature set, we've been able to grow and improve our offering exponentially. You'll see more interactivity, more integration and a real focus on motivating the audience to take action. It's not just wayfinding anymore...it's integration for self-service."
Interactivity
Visix will showcase a wide variety of award-winning interactive designs from their Creative Services team, including:
- Custom theme designs

- Interactive wayfinding
- XML-driven directories
- TransLoc real-time shuttle tracking

Digital Signage Software
Visix will demonstrate its enterprise product, AxisTV digital signage software version 8.2, with new animated layout backgrounds and support for hot spots and full-screen kiosks.
The latest version of Announce will also be on show. This advanced digital signage content management application is designed for those who want beautifully choreographed content with centralized control in a highly configurable platform.
APPOINT and APPOINTwmv are desktop applications that allow users to schedule their PowerPoint presentations to digital signs. APPOINTwmv renders any PowerPoint presentation as a video, so clients can schedule it to any content management system.
The booth will include a wide variety of sample content, integrated feeds and data visualization for higher education, healthcare, corporate and K-12 clients. Visix's CAP-compliant alert module will be featured in both AxisTV and Announce applications.
Room Scheduling Solutions
Visix will premier its new RoomBoard at InfoComm 2013. This custom interactive product combines touchscreen wayfinding and data visualization to show available and busy rooms at a glance. A hot spot can be incorporated to launch MS Exchange or EMS scheduling applications to allow room reservations right at the board. The RoomBoard can be integrated with MeetingMinder room signs for an enterprise scheduling solution.
MeetingMinder interactive room signs allow playback of room schedules along with dynamic media and messages. The 10-inch widescreen Power over Ethernet interactive display allows a single Ethernet cable to supply both power and data to the room sign.

Enhancer RNAs alter gene expression
2013-06-04
In a pair of distinct but complementary papers, researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and colleagues illuminate the functional importance of a relatively new class of RNA molecules. The work, published online this week in the journal Nature, suggests modulation of "enhancer-directed RNAs" or "eRNAs" could provide a new way to alter gene expression in living cells, perhaps affecting the development or pathology of many diseases.
Enhancers are sequences in the genome that act to boost or "enhance" the activity or expression of nearby ...
Common gene known to cause inherited autism now linked to specific behaviors
2013-06-04
The genetic malady known as Fragile X syndrome is the most common cause of inherited autism and intellectual disability. Brain scientists know the gene defect that causes the syndrome and understand the damage it does in misshaping the brain's synapses — the connections between neurons. But how this abnormal shaping of synapses translates into abnormal behavior is unclear.
Now, researchers at UCLA believe they know. Using a mouse model of Fragile X syndrome (FXS), they recorded the activity of networks of neurons in a living mouse brain while the animal was awake and ...

Dr Andrew Laslett and his team have spent the last five years working on the project. The research has focused on comparing different types of iPS cells ...
