Trinity College Research Centre choose Systech Illinois' 8001 Permeation Analyser to analyse the Permeability of Oxygen in Packaging Films

To analyse the permeability of oxygen in packaging films, the Research Centre at Trinity College, Dublin have chosen the Systech Illinois 8001.

2013-06-08
OXFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, June 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices (CRANN) is Trinity College Dublin's largest research institute and a Science Foundation Ireland funded Centre for Science, Engineering and Technology, which partners with University College Cork.

At CRANN, there are over 300 researchers, led by 18 Principal Investigators each of whom is an internationally recognised expert in their field of research. Using advanced, state-of-the-art facilities they deliver world leading research and innovation in nanoscience. Their challenge is to develop both new and existing nanomaterials with a large part of their work involved in polymer composite development.

An essential part of the research in polymer composites is evaluating a wide range of properties, including permeability measurement. Oxygen permeation analysis is required for carrying out tests of polymer nanomaterial composites which are used in applications such as; medical devices, food packaging and automotive parts. Manufacturing operations rely on the improvement of these materials in order to; reduce manufacturing costs, improve existing products, develop new products and technologies.

To analyse the permeability of oxygen in packaging films, the Research Centre at Trinity College, Dublin have chosen the Systech Illinois 8001. For precision oxygen analysis this permeation analyser is capable of measuring both films and packages. It offers quick response and consistently accurate measurements with precise humidity control and can also switch between wet or dry samples within minutes.

More information about Systech Illinois and their extensive range of products and services can be found on the Systech website at http://www.systechillinois.com or to speak to a technical sales manager call +44 (0) 1844 216838.
