CHICAGO, IL, June 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) On June 7, ARMA International's northeast regional conference brings together industry experts to discuss the need for Secure Recordless Messaging Services (SRMS) in business. The panel, entitled "Protecting Privacy When Sharing Sensitive Records," includes Kenny Woods, COO of Vaporstream Inc., a SRMS provider that offers private and secure messaging channels for business communications; Nancy Flynn, executive director and founder of The ePolicy Institute; the Honorable Judge Ronald J. Hedges, a former United States Magistrate Judge; and Dawson Horn III, former senior litigation counsel for Tyco International.
The panel will consider the dangers of electronic communications and their impact on the effectiveness of corporate communications. It will address the need for a robust corporate ePolicy to determine the difference between a communication that must be preserved in keeping with regulations, and a communication that does not need to be preserved.
"Vaporstream is thrilled to team up with Nancy Flynn to discuss our area of expertise - secure recordless messaging - in the context of a comprehensive approach to electronic communications privacy and risk," said Woods. "Flynn and The ePolicy Institute have helped to spread the message of safe and responsible electronic communications since its founding."
As the only truly recordless digital communication platform in the world, Vaporstream helps protect businesses and investors from the $80 billion a year problem caused by security breaches, user errors and communications taken out of context.
"According to a 2009 survey from American Management Association and the ePolicy Institute, 34% of employees don't know the difference between email that must be retained and email that can be purged, while the number of companies that have had email subpoenaed, become entangled in email-related lawsuits, or experienced electronic communications-related data breaches is significant and growing," added Flynn. "By partnering with Vaporstream in events like this one, I'm working to spread the word that there are technologies and policies that can help us cut back on the amount of time and money lost as a result of these incidents."
Kenny Woods is responsible for directing Vaporstream's strategic and operational leadership. Spanning more than 25 years of experience building and managing enterprise software sales, marketing and operations at multiple organizations, his experience includes work in emerging markets and new technologies with particular emphasis in the areas of email delivery, storage and archiving, records compliance management solutions (supporting Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA, among others) and data storage management solutions, health system throughput and process automation and contract lifecycle management solutions.
Nancy Flynn, an internationally recognized expert on workplace email, social media, and Internet policy, compliance, and communications, is founder and executive director of The ePolicy Institute, as well as the author of 12 books including The Social Media Handbook; The ePolicy Toolkit; The e-Policy Handbook; E-Mail Rules; Blog Rules; Instant Messaging Rules; E-Mail Management; and Writing Effective E-Mail.
Judge Ronald J. Hedges, a Former United States Magistrate Judge, has extensive experience in eDiscovery and in the management of complex litigation and has served as a special master, arbitrator and mediator. He also consults on management and discovery of Electronically Stored Information (ESI). Hedges is a member of the American Law Institute, the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association, among others.
Dawson Horn III is an experienced attorney with both an in-house and law firm background. Broadly, his expertise lies in complex commercial litigation, insurance and products liability. Most recently, Horn was Senior Litigation Counsel with Tyco International where he managed a complex litigation docket, a large toxic tort docket and an insurance recovery docket. In addition to his litigation experience, Horn also has a substantial transactional background, having been procurement counsel at Scott Paper Company and Campbell Soup Company, as well as having led corporate transactions for United Auto Group and Danone.
