Bishop Xavier Eikerenkoetter Offers Compassion and Forgiveness for Father's Day at United Palace Cathedral

This Father's Day Sunday, Bishop Xavier Eikerenkoetter's message will be one of healing when he speaks at 11 a.m. on "Fathers, Forgiveness and the Future" at United Palace Cathedral (UPC).

NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) This Father's Day Sunday, Bishop Xavier Eikerenkoetter's message will be one of healing when he speaks at 11 a.m. on "Fathers, Forgiveness and the Future" at United Palace Cathedral (UPC).

"Whether we had good fathers or not-so-good fathers, we must examine that relationship--or non-relationship--and acknowledge its impact on shaping our lives.

"Through my experience as the son of Rev. Ike I learned the importance of getting beyond idealizations of our fathers and finding a place of understanding and forgiveness," Bishop Eikerenkoetter said.

"Using song, music and meditation, we will undertake this courageous healing journey together. These tools help us embody spiritual work that goes far beyond merely sermonizing, to help heal and transform our relationships with our fathers, including God the Father," added Bishop Eikerenkoetter.

His presentation culminates a two-week celebration of Fathers and Founders which kicked-off June 1 with a musical birthday tribute to his father, the late Rev. Dr. Frederick Eikerenkoetter, better known as Rev. Ike, founder of United Palace Cathedral.
Bishop Eikerenkoetter connects messages long espoused by his father to the current wave of New Thought spirituality, which emphasizes positive thought and embracing the divine within us.

As a part of the Fathers and Founders celebration, Bishop Eikerenkoetter brought New Thought guest ministers Dr. Joanne Coleman and Arlene Hylton and the New Thought gospel music of guest director Tim McAfee-Lewis to the United Palace Cathedral.

All three hail from Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles, a leading institution in New Thought spirituality, founded by Michael Bernard Beckwith, a featured teacher in the book and DVD "The Secret." McAfee-Lewis has worked with talent such as John Legend, Chaka Khan, Will.i.am and India.Arie and is re-establishing a new UPC choir that will perform under his direction on Father's Day.

"As a part of the evolution of United Palace Cathedral, our goal is to create a new setting in the New York area welcoming and supporting those who seek to explore spirit in all its manifestations. I am committed to building on our legacy by taking this ministry and a new generation to the next level of spiritual awakening and awareness," Bishop Eikerenkoetter said.

This special Father's Day service starts at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2013, and will be followed by a complimentary Fathers' Day luncheon. United Palace Cathedral is located at 4140 Broadway at 175th Street, in New York City. Visit www.unitedpalace.org or call 212-568-6700.
