HOLLISTER, CA, June 16, 2013 (Press-News.org) Experience drama and fantasy just like the Game of Thrones this fall at the Northern California Renaissance Faire. Travel back in time to a setting similar to the continents of Westeros and Essos, as portrayed on the popular TV series. Your journey will take you to a Renaissance village so that you can experience the life of people who lived during Medieval times and immerse yourself in a period of classical art, architecture, literature, plays, and traditional music. The Faire takes place every Saturday and Sunday from September 14 through October 13 at Casa de Fruta in Hollister.
Participate in the life of the residents of Willington and join villagers at the drunken festival of Bacchanal and the delicious feast of Saint Michael. Catch a glimpse of the majestic Queen Elizabeth I and interact with mystical creatures of the land. But, watch out for savage pirates who might be lurking around the corner, ready to plunder for booty.
Attend Italian Renaissance comedy theatre at the Royal Garden stage and chuckle at the behavior of Moonie the Magnificent and BrooN at the Fools stage. Seven stages will have nonstop entertainment such as William Shakespeare acts, noble social dances, and magnificent swordplay. Be sure to see veteran jousters demonstrate their skills and techniques at The World Tournament of Champions, performed twice daily at the Tournament of Horses Arena.
Jovial peasants, nefarious constables, men in tights, and gleeful maidens will join you through your journey in time. Test your skills in archery, axe throwing and fencing, or adorn yourself with a traditional Renaissance costume.
Of course, a visit to the Renaissance Faire is not complete without feasting on the all the delectable foods. Dine on a gigantic turkey leg, roasted to perfection, and wash it down with a mug of frosty ale.
Be sure to browse the Market Faire and view the creations of master artisans who will display blown glass, keen blades, armor and chain mail, romantic clothing, leather-work, woodwork, hand wrought jewelry, sculpture and much, much more.
And the fun doesn't end when the sun sets. The Celtic Rock Concert Series, free with admission every Saturday night, will keep you entertained with raucous sets from some of the best bands on the Celtic scene. The exclusive concert kicks off Saturday nights at 6pm.
