RICHMOND, VA, June 21, 2013 (Press-News.org) Spoken4, a Richmond-based company providing pedicab rides in Carytown, the Fan District and Shockoe Bottom, launches tonight with a kickoff at Richmond dining landmark, The Tobacco Company Restaurant. Using custom-built bike taxis that can seat up to five people, the company introduces its service by running six days per week, ranging from 2 PM to 2 AM. The company takes reservations by phone, text or Twitter. Of course, it is a licensed bike taxi, which means you can also simply flag one down if you don't have a smartphone.
"Our goal is to provide a fun, affordable source of transportation that is also an experience - when was the last time you had someone pull you in the back of a bicycle?" said Katie Hurst, co-owner of Spoken4 and a Senior Account Manager at Madison+Main.
"We thought the timing was right with Floyd Avenue being considered 'Bicycle Boulevard' and the advent of Richmond 2015. We know Richmonders will love this service," said Kyle Langemeier, co-owner of Spoken4 and Marine Veteran, who got the idea after riding in bike cabs in Charleston, South Carolina.
The company is starting with five bikes and prices range from only $7 - $14 per person one way, depending on your destination.
Riders will be able to call, text or tweet, as well as flag drivers on the streets like a traditional taxi. For more information, visit Spoken4 online.
