CRETE, GREECE, June 23, 2013 (Press-News.org) On the occasion of the Recycling Day and on an effort to increase awareness and encourage the residents of Crete to contribute all they can to maintain a clean environment, on June 18th 2013, Creta Maris Green Team invited the private model kindergarten of Hersonissos, Junior Academy, to spend the day in the resort s areas.
The purpose of the visit was to inform children about the effort to protect the environment by recycling trash such as glass, oil, paper, light bulbs, appliances and batteries. The 70 children, aged up to 5 years old, visited the garbage sorting and recycling areas of the resort and saw how a large company can easily give a “breath on the planet”.
Following, the kids spent the day in the resort s organic field where they visited the animals and picked zucchini from the garden and eggs from hens with which the chef later prepared for them a traditional Cretan recipe “sfouggato” to eat.
Creta Maris Green Team consists of volunteers - employees at the Creta Maris Hotel and aims to participate in activities related to environmental protection, such as cleaning public areas, beaches, planting trees etc. The Green Team s mission is to support the Region of Crete, the Region of Heraklion and Heraklion Regional Municipalities passing a “green” message to all citizens in order to contribute greatly to maintaining a clean environment, which will be a brilliant legacy for future generations.
