Monkbar Hotel's Annual Wedding Fair Is A Must For Couples Looking To Tie The Knot

York couples looking to tie the knot in the near future are being urged to follow the "silk route" to the city's Best Western Monkbar Hotel next weekend. (Sunday November 7)

YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND November 05, 2010

The fair is the twelfth the award-winning hotel has staged - which, in terms of anniversaries, is when couples traditionally exchange gifts of silk - and takes place between noon and 4pm on Sunday, November 7.

This year's wedding fair has attracted more than 30 companies specialising in weddings, who will all be showcasing their products and services.

And as well as a healthy smattering of silk wedding dresses for the brides and silk ties for the grooms, it will also feature cakes, flowers, stationery, balloons and wedding accessories on display.

And for the first time, a Scottish Piper will be at the hotel's entrance welcoming the guests as they arrive.

Monkbar Hotel director June Nelsey said: "This is our twelfth annual wedding fair and they are always one of the highlights of the Monkbar Hotel's calendar .

"The wedding fairs give us a chance to show off our facilities which, over the last two decades, have been the venue of choice for almost 700 couples.

"On top of this, we also have more than 30 companies demonstrating their individual areas of expertise."

She added: "Any couple planning to 'silk-tie' the knot should follow the silk route to the Monkbar Hotel this coming Sunday."
