CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND, November 06, 2010 (Press-News.org) etyres, the UK's leading online tyre retailer, has released a short online video showing motorists how changing a tyre is so easy even a child can do it.
Most motorists dread the idea of getting a puncture and being stranded at the roadside waiting for a breakdown truck.
Now etyres has released a short online video which shows drivers how they can fit their spare wheel in a matter of minutes and be back on the road in no time.
And to demonstrate just how easy it is, the entire procedure is filmed being carried out by 10-year-old William Stepney.
Tony Bowman, managing director of etyres, said: "Many motorists are under the false impression that only qualified mechanics or big strong men with bulging biceps can change a tyre - but this video dispels that myth.
"All you need to be armed with is the basic knowledge of how to carry out this straightforward procedure and if you follow our step-by-step guide you will never have to worry about being stranded at the side of the road with a puncture again."
The short video covers everything from what tools are needed to complete the job to tips on fitting and tightening the wheel nuts.
Once the spare has been fitted, the motorist can drive home safely and shop around for the best deal on a replacement tyre, rather than having to pay an extortionate fee charged by the recovery garage.
There is another money-saving advantage to being able to replace a punctured tyre with the spare - it could preserve the condition of the tyre so that it can be repaired.
Another common misconception is that all punctured tyres have to be thrown away - this is not the case, especially if the damaged tyre has been switched with the spare as quickly as possible and not driven far.
If the damage has occurred in the tread area of a tyre it is possible for it to be repaired safely and cheaply, often at a fraction of the cost of a new replacement.
All etyres mobile fitting vans are equipped with puncture repair facilities which enable minor tread repairs to be repaired to BSAU 159 standard.
About etyres
Launched in 1997, etyres is the UK's first online tyres retailer. It operates a mobile fitting service, which means customers can have their tyres fitted at a location of their choice - either at their home or place of work. etyres can fit tyres all over the country, whether customers need tyres in Bradford or tyres in Huddersfield.
Its low overheads mean the price customers pay is always low - up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street tyre depots on a range of tires including Continental tyres and 4x4 tyres.

ANN ARBOR, Mich.---A table-top gamma-ray detector created at the University of Michigan can not only identify the presence of dangerous nuclear materials, but can pinpoint and show their exact location and type, unlike conventional detectors.

"This is the first instrument for this purpose that ...

Scripps research scientists find nerve cell activity drains stem cell pool in developing brain
2010-11-05
LA JOLLA, CA, November 3, 2010 – For Immediate Release – As babies grow, their brain cells develop from a pool of stem cells—some stem cells continuously divide, replenishing the pool, whereas others morph into mature functioning nerve cells. Now researchers at The Scripps Research Institute have shown that as the newly formed nerve cells start firing electrical signals, this activity slows down stem cell division, emptying out the stem cell pool in favor of nerve cell formation.
The study, published in the November 4 issue of the journal Neuron, shows that brain activity ...
