Laugh Factory Announces Laugh Bowl II: UCLA vs. USC
2nd Annual Comedy Competition Pits Students of Both Campuses in Search of Young Talent
LOS ANGELES, CA, November 07, 2010
The world-famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood announces the second annual Laugh Factory Laugh Bowl.Just prior to this fall's highly anticipated meeting between UCLA and USC on the gridiron Dec. 4, the Laugh Factory will invite students from each of these southern California campuses to once again compete for bragging rights to College Campus With the Best Sense of Humor (the honor is currently held by USC).
The victorious student will receive open-mic coaching from legendary Laugh Factory founder and owner Jamie Masada; have the opportunity to perform on stage at the Laugh Factory; see their name and school name on the Sunset Boulevard marquee of the iconic comedy club; receive $5,000 in Laugh Factory gift certificates; and have an opportunity to meet with the MTV talent department and perform in an upcoming MTV comedy showcase event. The winner's school will also take home the Laugh Factory Laugh Bowl II trophy.
In mid-November, the Laugh Factory will audition students with comedy aspirations on campus and at its Hollywood club, post the top-20 performances online and open voting, Nov. 29 -Jan. 6, to friends, family and the general public at laughfactory.com/contests/LaughBowl/result.

UCLA — Friday, Nov. 12, 7-9 p.m., Kerckhoff Grand Salon, UCLA Campus
Also appearing is comedian Max Amini (a UCLA alum)

USC — Monday, Nov. 22, 7-9 p.m., Laugh Factory, 8001 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood
(Free admission, two-drink minimum)

After votes are tallied, the top-five semi-finalists from each school will be announced Jan. 7. These 10 student comedians will then compete in the Laugh Bowl II semi-final comedy throw down at the Sunset Boulevard club Jan. 13, judged by a panel of professional comedians. Online voting will resume, Jan. 20 - Feb. 2, to select four finalists, with the final competition occurring Feb. 24.
The semi-final and final competitions will also feature headline performances from top professional comedians as well as performances from last year's winner, USC's Devin Field, a sophomore majoring in screenwriting, who met with MTV's talent department and performed on MTV's Summer Comedy Showcase at the Laugh Factory.
