2010-11-10
TAIPEI, TAIWAN, November 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) 4ipnet, Inc., a leading networking device provider for manageable, reliable, and secure wireless access, today announced that the University of Georgia (UGA), Georgia Center has implemented 4ipnet Access Points and WHG Controller to provide instant account generation, flexible billing options, and central network management for its guests, visitors, and staff.

The UGA Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center & Hotel is the world's largest university-based conference center. It sees a wide range of events each year, including academic symposiums, training workshops, organized retreats, and weddings. To provide a convenient, high-tech Wi-Fi environment for event guests, UGA's IT staff has decided to implement 4ipnet WHG505 Secure WLAN Controller, EAP100 Access Points, and NetTicketGen Network Ticket Generator Set in the conference center; 4ipnet's effective network solution has helped UGA overcome the challenges that existed in the network environment and improve user experience significantly.

4ipnet hospitality solutions meet the network requirements of instant account generation and efficient billing handling for high volume of guests. On-demand accounts in the WHG505 are designed to serve instantaneous and short-term or temporary access. The WHG505 services up to 4,000 on-demand accounts, and on-demand users are able to pay for and access the network instantaneously with the NetTicketGen, simplifying frontline hotspot operation immediately. Non-IT staff and receptionists can provide customers or visiting guests with access receipts by pressing a few buttons on SDS100, bypassing manual configuration of the WHG505. The simplified hotspot operation and quick connection not only eliminate excessive waiting time for users but also streamline the whole process of account generation and ticket printing.

Configurable billing profiles and presetting allow UGA's IT staff to customize billing plans for on-demand users and to charge their users by various accounting types such as time, usage, volume, valid duration, and hotel cutoff. Users have the option of paying with credit card directly via external payment gateway in a captive portal, or to pay in cash at a reception desk with the NetTicketGen when requesting a ticket for Internet access. 4ipnet hospitality solutions deliver choices of convenience and outstanding performance to the users; enjoying wireless Internet access seamlessly is with ease. All users undergo an authentication process before gaining network access. Once access is granted, users in different categories obtain different levels of service based on pre-configured network policies.

All deployed devices are centrally managed by the WHG505, providing a central point of administration and monitors of all access points. 4ipnet WHG505 WLAN Controller manages up to 230 4ipnet APs through a single, integrated platform. In addition to manageable access points, central management of users and network services are comprehensively provided as well. 4ipnet WHG505 is capable of integrating all configurations of network specifics — customizable login/logout portal, billing and payment settings, Service Zones — from a central location, minimizing the total cost of ownership effectively. Furthermore, centralized management of authentication and traffic logging gives UGA's IT staff added security, control and monitoring over user access and traffic information (compliant with anti-terrorism laws.)
