St. Madeleine Sophie's Center welcomes new Director of Development to its Executive Team

Karen Amoroso will join the non-profit to oversee and implement fundraising efforts, events and programs

SAN DIEGO, CA, November 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) St. Madeleine Sophie's Center (SMSC), welcomed a new member to its corporate staff this month. Karen Amoroso has been appointed as Director of Development and Communication.

St. Madeleine Sophie's has gained national recognition for providing a variety of creative and innovative programs for the developmentally disabled in San Diego County for over 40 years.
Amoroso will lead the fundraising efforts to generate revenue to benefit these programs

"We are really excited to have Karen join our St. Madeleine Sophie's Center Executive Team," said Debra Turner-Emerson, Executive Director of SMSC. "She brings an immense amount of experience and has a strong background of fundraising success. I am confident that she will add value to our overall fundraising goals."

Amoroso has more than 20 years experience in fundraising and public relations and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

Most recently, Amoroso worked with United Way of San Diego County as a Campaign Account Representative, assisting local employers with their annual United Way campaigns. Prior to that, she served as Executive Director of St. Joseph's Community Foundation, guiding them through the health care affiliation process.

Amoroso has lead fundraising programs for both Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. She also worked in Advancement for San Diego State University.
