Experts Advise The Importance of Staying Alert To College Deadline Application Dates In December

Students can miss important college scholarship deadlines due to the overwhelming process of applying to schools.SocialWorkPrograms.org discusses scholarship options.

2010-11-10
BOCA RATON, FL, November 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) Because the fall can be an overwhelming time for students, it's important to keep a log of scholarship deadline dates. At the education site SocialWorkPrograms.org, staff writer Jill Cohen suggest students pay as much attention to scholarship and grant deadlines as well as the admission application requirements. This states, "Fall can be an overwhelming time because students are trying to visit colleges, fill out admission applications and also keep track of deadlines for fall scholarships."

Ms. Cohen notes that since many students rely on scholarship money to be able to attend college, this is something to not lose sight of. Because many
scholarships have deadlines in February through March, people forget that there are also schools that have deadlines as early as November and December.
For example, the Bob Warnicke Memorial Scholarship Fund by the NBL has a deadline of December 1, 2010. If you are a high school senior or graduate
and have been an active member of the National Bicycle League, this is a worthwhile fund to look into. It is eligible for those planning to take in following year either part-time or
full-time college courses.

A second scholarship award with a December deadline is the Axa Achievement Award. This is sponsored by the Axa Foundation with US World and News Report. In addition to academic
acheivement, motivation and work with the community is reviewed. The deadline is December 15th.

A third college scholarship to take note of is the one by Vanguard that has a deadline of November 30th. For minority students with interests in business fields, this can be ideal.
One needs to be a full-time student and have completed their sophomore year of college. The gpa must be at least 3.0.

According to Cohen at http://www.socialworkprograms.org , "Scholarship deadlines end up taking a back seat due to the other tasks students are involved in including school work, college applications and other responsibilities." At the blog, there are discussions of various scholarships including Left Handed Scholarships and Scholarships for Single Mothers.

By staying organized, scholarship deadlines can be kept track of in the same way that one keeps track of the dates due for college admission applications, letters of recommendations and
the college essays that are due. At http://www.socialworkprograms.org scholarships, social work programs and continuing education areas are discussed in depth.
