SARASOTA, FL, February 21, 2014 (Press-News.org) The Central Sarasota Farmer's Market at the Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI), is producing a new local marketplace where both consumers and vendors can grow together every Saturday.
The newly established Central Sarasota Farmer's Market has created a buzz around the Proctor and Beneva area of Sarasota Florida. The market offers locally grown fresh produce, local artisan products, live music, and a variety of food vendors to consumers who live and visit the area. Located at the Sarasota County Technical Institute, visitors will enjoy ample parking, indoor restroom facilities, and a pet friendly environment. Vendors enjoy the opportunity to share their goods in a new venue to consumers who are unable or do not desire to travel the distance to other markets, or who need easier access to facilities and parking.
In fact, the location and the ease of access are some of the main reasons the founders decided to bring another farmer's market to the area. "We know that Sarasota and Manatee County shoppers love to buy local, and enjoy fresh locally grown produce and locally designed artisan goods," said Mr. Todd Underhill, one of the founders of the Central Sarasota Farmer's Market. "Our goal is not to compete with the other farmer's markets of the area, but to increase the awareness and accessibility of the benefits that shopping for locally grown and made goods brings to our community, the vendors, and to the consumers themselves."
The organization behind the market is non-profit, as their goal is to ensure the profits go to the vendors. Some of the proceeds also go to support local vocational agricultural programs, which offer sustainability and resource management classes. This commitment to the vendor is one of the reasons Brown's Grove Citrus & Produce, who are approaching 100 years of local farming in Sarasota, Manatee, and Hardee Counties, recently signed up as an anchor vendor.
The Central Sarasota Farmer's Market operates every Saturday from 8:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M., and is currently accepting vendor applications. Vendors can find the submission package on the Central Sarasota Farmer's Market website Vendor Information page: http://centralsarasotafarmersmarket.com/sarasota-farmers-market-vendor-information/
About The Central Sarasota Farmer's Market: The Central Sarasota Farmer's Market is conveniently located at Sarasota County Technical Institute, 4748 S Beneva Rd., Sarasota, FL 34233, every Saturday from 8:00AM-1:00PM.
