VANCOUVER, WA, February 22, 2014 (Press-News.org) The majority of respondents to a survey of staffing professionals conducted by DiscoverOrg ranked healthcare as the top IT industry for job growth in 2014. Three-quarters of the respondents said healthcare would see the greatest growth in IT jobs, followed by software development (52 percent of respondents) and banking/financial services (27 percent of respondents).
DiscoverOrg, http://www.discoverorg.com, winner of a 2014 SIIA CODiE award and provider of information technology sales and marketing intelligence tools used by top IT vendors, conducted the survey in December 2013 to identify trends in IT staffing that were having the most impact on the industry.
Other key survey findings:
• The top three emerging IT titles in 2014 were mobile developer/mobile app developer, business intelligence developer and big data engineers/architects.
• "Reaching the right person" was the number one challenge listed, selected by 45 percent of respondents, followed by "identifying open opportunities" (20 percent) and "identifying a company's key players" (13 percent).
• The positions or areas with the highest turnover rates were sales, IT staffing, software developers and networking professionals; C-level executives saw the lowest turnover rate.
• 47 percent of respondents said the cost of placing an IT executive was $10,000 or above, while 20 percent placed the cost at $50,000 or above.
The greatest number of respondents, 62 percent, said they specialized in IT staffing, followed by healthcare/medicine and finance/accounting (both 19 percent) and engineering (14 percent). Nearly half said they target the Fortune 1000, while 44 percent said they concentrate on small-to-medium (SMB) businesses.
In terms of business tools, 70 percent said they used a CRM system, followed by recruiting software (62 percent) and sales intelligence tools (44 percent). You can find out more about the survey results here: http://pages.discoverorg.com/Staffing-Inforgraphic.html.
"With the IT industry in a constant state of flux, we felt that recruiters and staffing firms were in a unique position to provide valuable insights into the current state of affairs in terms of job growth, in-demand positions and turnover," said Henry Schuck, co-founder and CEO of DiscoverOrg. "That's why we decided to conduct this survey and share the results, which I believe both IT and staffing professionals will find useful. The survey also highlighted the critical importance of having good contact data and solid sales intelligence, as the top three challenges reported by recruiters were related to those areas."
