SAN DIEGO, CA, February 24, 2014 (Press-News.org) SPARQL City is proud to introduce to the database management community version 1.0 SPARQLverse, in both open-source and commercial forms. The SPARQLverse product is specifically designed to seamlessly perform analytics on NoSQL key-value systems including MongoDB, Cassandra and RDF.
SPARQLverse is a key element in the corporate data stack, providing direct analytic access without the need to create complex schemas, ETL processes, or writing poor performing, map-reduce style software. Instead, SPARQLverse extends the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) standard for SPARQL 1.1 with the inclusion of analytic functionality normally associated with sophisticated SQL products, such as windowed aggregate functions. In addition to this newly introduced functionality, SPARQLverse maintains the same ease of use and agility associated with a rich standards-based infrastructure.
From Barry Zane, CEO of SPARQL City: "The release of 1.0 SPARQLverse is important because it allows Big Data partners and business users to begin leveraging this performance-architected NoSQL engine for serious real-time analytics." Mr. Zane goes on to say; "Depending on the performance and data size needs, it is available from the free open source version through large enterprise parallel-processing systems, all targeted to the newer types of data stored in non-traditional database systems."
According to Andrew Katz, Co-founder and CTO of mParticle, a mobile data management and activation platform, "Every interaction between your audience and a mobile app creates valuable data which can be used to increase engagement, retention, and ultimately monetization. Because data sets vary so greatly from app to app, a schema-less analytics engine is an absolute requirement and mParticle decided to go with SPARQLverse for its performance, simplicity, and scalability, to best serve the needs of our clients".
The free open-source version is fully functional, limited only by the scalability/performance of a single-server. Both the source and the executables can be downloaded at http://sparqlvillage.org/download. The open-source product is Linux-based, C++, with an administrative console that includes a sample data set and usage examples. The console operates on all popular Windows and Macintosh browsers to the SPARQLverse server.
Both the open-source and commercial versions are easily installed and include a management and monitoring console, sample data and sample queries to make it easy for SQL-knowledgeable customers to transition to SPARQL. The open-source version includes MongoDB embedded, for learning purposes. The commercial version also includes access to DataStax Cassandra.
About SPARQL City:
SPARQL City is redefining the way organizations perform data analysis on big data with schema-less approaches typical of NoSQL or RDF style systems. The focus is on seamless integration, ease-of use, high performance and scalability. SPARQLverse is typically at least 500 times faster than MapReduce, with a dramatically lower TCO driven by an open-source, partner-friendly, standards-based model. The founders and management of SPARQL City include Co-founders and early members of Netezza, bought by IBM in 2009, and ParAccel the core technology of Amazon RedShift. The SPARQL City product was incubated for several years within ParAccel, which became acquired by Actian in 2013, and subsequently became an independent corporation.
