OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, March 6, 2014 (Press-News.org) Dave Van Dusen, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Swift Delivery Systems Canada Ltd., has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in delivery and logistics.
Mr. Van Dusen has more than 38 years of professional transportation experience, with 33 years as President and CEO of Swift Delivery Systems. Over the years, he has established himself as an industry veteran yet somewhat of a mature student who continues learning from experts in his field of courier logistics and expedited on-demand delivery services. He shares responsibility for marketing the company, overseeing sales and administration, empowering his staff to make the right decisions when it comes to customer services and ensuring his client's shipping needs are looked after efficiently, securely and always on-time. Since 1980, Mr. Van Dusen has started and operated many other delivery companies including Paragon International Courier, Ottawa Messenger Service, Queensway Courier, and Swiftrac Courier Express to name a few.
In 1996, Dave merged his company with a US Publicly Traded Company called Corporate Express Delivery Systems and was their very first International acquisition. Dave was then appointed their Canadian President of the Canadian operations and subsequently appointed the Canadian President of another US Public Company, Velocity Express. Nine years later, Dave re-purchased back his Ottawa based operation from the US parent and returned to his branding roots.
Looking back, Mr. Van Dusen attributes his success over the years to recognizing talent when he sees it and going after it, taking advantage of opportunities no matter the size or scope and always setting the bar high for success and continuing with that drive to succeed. Possessing a spirited sense of humor, common sense and a little bit of luck along the way certainly doesn't hurt, either. Dave properly positioned his company to become a dominant industry player in his marketplace as a direct result of:
• Finding, hiring and combining the expertise of the industry's most talented operations staff & empowering them to be their best they can be
• Incorporating leading edge technology
• Providing a wide array of various delivery and logistics service solutions
• Possessing a passion for redefining outstanding delivery representation
• Treating every customer as though they were his only customer
• Treating all of his staff and drivers with dignity, compassion and respect
Dave became involved in his profession because he started out as a driver at a small courier company back in the seventies and swiftly realized that he could do a much better job in providing a superior service and a more efficient customer service experience, while promoting a pleasant work environment for staff and drivers.
To remain in continuous contact with existing and potential customers, Mr. Van Dusen became a member of the Ottawa, Nepean & Kanata Chambers of Commerce and joined numerous industry related groups and member organizations throughout North America. In giving back to his community, Dave & Swift support many charitable undertakings including: The Children's Aid Society, the Ottawa and Kanata Food Banks, The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, United Way Centraide Canada, Pug Rescue, Habitat for Humanity International, Big Brothers - Big Sisters of Ottawa and Serenity Renewal for Families to name a few.
The business environment is changing at a fast pace and Dave has ensured that Swift is well-positioned to accommodate any changes or challenges. In years to come, Dave intends to increase the size and strength of his company and take advantage of excellent growth opportunities.
