Peter M. Newman Elected to Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors

Feldman Shepherd trial lawyer to serve on legal association board

2014-03-06
PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 06, 2014 (Press-News.org) Peter M. Newman, of the personal injury law firm Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP, will serve on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association for a three-year term.

Members of the Philadelphia Bar Association, which is the oldest assembly of lawyers in the country, elect the Board of Governors. The board works with the Chancellor to establish official policy for the bar association. The policies help the association achieve its mission to serve the profession and the public by promoting justice, professional excellence and respect for the rule of law.

"I am honored to have been elected to serve on the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors," said Newman. "As a trial lawyer, I have dedicated my career to helping people seek justice through our court system. I look forward to combining my experience and ideas with those of the other board members to continue upholding the high standards of the legal community in Philadelphia."

Over the course of two decades as a trial lawyer, Newman has represented plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury litigation including products liability, medical malpractice, premises liability and other complex personal injury and wrongful death actions. He handles claims against insurance companies for clients who are victims of bad faith in the adjustment or defense of claims, and for clients who made claims for disability benefits that their insurers unreasonably denied. Newman has helped clients and their families obtain multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts against physicians and hospitals for failure to diagnose life-threatening conditions and for a variety of medical errors.

Newman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 and his law degree, cum laude, from Tulane University in 1991. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Stephen J. McEwen, Jr., President Judge Emeritus of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, in 1991 and 1992.

In 2010, Newman was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia magazine. To learn more, visit the website.
