Refrigeration Parts Company APM Cool Explains the Importance of Proper Refrigeration Piping
2014-03-12
ATLANTA, GA, March 12, 2014 (Press-News.org) Compressor parts business APM Cool highlights the importance of having an adequate piping system installed in your AC system. The vast network of lines that connect all the mechanical and electrical parts together are not always considered a top priority, but failure to maintain and service them on a regular basis can be quite costly.

If the internal pipes fail, then so does everything else; in other words, they are central to the proper functioning of the system at large. By neglecting the suction line, for instance, you are inherently putting the compressor at increased risk for damage, which is a very expensive component to replace.

As changes continue to be made in the HVAC industry with respect to improving energy-efficiency and performance, the need for enhanced piping design is critical. Many technicians make the mistake of not taking this seriously or opt for a cheaper install for the sake of cutting costs.

Common Piping Problems

The refrigeration compressor professionals say that the two major piping issues are under-sizing and over-sizing. Since it is more cost-effective to buy smaller pipes, a lot of technicians opt to install less than ideal diameter parts. This can cause lower line-per-meter pressure and compressor overheating.

On the other hand, over-sized lines can also lead to the same problem. Although the system's refrigerant capacity is more stable, disproportionate pressure ratios often occur in the suction and liquid lines, which in turn result in compressor problems.

According to David DeBuc, Vice President of APM Cool, "The top benefits of correct pipe sizing are improved performance and efficiency, which inevitably lead to lower costs for the user."
