DEER PARK, IL, November 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) With the growing trend towards "smarter," more capable digital devices, increasingly powerful computers, cloud computing and a burgeoning number of Web sites promising to maximize connectivity, organization, sharing and storage, a new offering, PC Smart Bar, promises to remake even the most technically challenged user into a digital diva or gadget guru. The brainchild of tech-savvy local businessmen -- who recognized the underserved market of a time-crunched public becoming more frustrated with every new and upgraded smartphone and computer system to hit the market, and bewildered by a never-ending parade of software application version releases -- PC Smart Bar aims to level the playing field between people and their computers and digital devices.
PC Smart Bar launches its first digital retail hangout in Deer Park Town Center, a place where computers and connectivity intermingle with overstuffed plush furnishings and WiFi, and where PC Smart Techs work one on one with overloaded customers to get a handle on their digital assets. "We've created a stress-free digital zone, where our customers can come in and get anything from a computer diagnostic to help with a printer, to configuring a network, to training them on how to utilize their new smartphone to connect with the rest of their world," said Kelly York, general manager. "We repair laptops and smartphones -- even "broken" screens -- and, we go even further, corralling all their disparate devices to make them as convenient, easy, productive and efficient as all the advertisements promoting these cool products promised it would be. We can interface your DROID smartphone with your computer; make your iPod work with your PC; set up cloud computing to store your images and music; create file sharing and set up personal servers; get your HD video cam and digital "point-and-shoot" camera to upload to Facebook...you name it, we integrate it!"
Ms. York notes PC Smart Bar addresses both ends of the market. "We're here to solve the immediate 'pain point' of a device or computer problem; but we're also here to provide the training and consulting for setting up individualized systems to make each person digitally 'self sufficient,' meaning they can start getting the knowledge -- and confidence -- to take on more of the ongoing maintenance required in our tech-focused society. We tailor our services to what each customer can and wants to do on their own. If you want to hand it over to us and we do it, that's fine...but if your objective is to become proficient, we have structure for this, too."
PC Smart Bar utilizes onsite technology to keep waiting times to a minimum, though being here is a most comfortable experience. Part lounge, with big screen TVs and warm colors, and part sleek tech bar, the environment is both relaxed and efficient. Appointments are taken, walk-ins welcome and, in a nod to the importance of closing the digital divide, PC Smart Bar plans to feature special "Happy Hour" promotional classes, featuring sushi and schooling on various topics, such as "The Top Five Things You Need to Know About Your New 'Droid Phone"; "How to Sync Exchange Email"; "File Management and Sharing Memories" and "How to Set Up and Use Skype Calling," as well as several other classes designed to make people more productive with their devices.
PC Smart Bar opens November 19th at 10am; business hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-9pm, and Sunday, 12pm-5pm. Appointments can be made in advance via the company's Web site, http://www.pcsmartbar.com/appointment/. PC Smart Bar is located at 20530 N. Rand Road, Suite 116, (adjacent to Century Movie Theater) in the Deer Park Town Center, Deer Park, IL, 60010. Corporate headquarters for the privately held company is at 108 S. Wynstone Park Drive, Suite 114, North Barrington, IL, 60010. For additional information, http://www.pcsmartbar.com or via phone, 847.550.1020.
