San Antonio Home Improvement Contractor Offers Peace of Mind with Surety Bonds

Remodeler discusses bonds for customers' protection

SAN ANTONIO, TX, November 15, 2010

San Antonio home improvement contractor Dunn-Wright Remodeling, Inc., San Antonio Home Improvement, is offering surety bonds to all customers seeking piece of mind on their next remodeling projects. Dunn-Wright Remodeling President, Jeff Stief, says in today's world given the state of the economy and a nervous buying public, it only makes sense.

"With one of the biggest, well known companies in town going out of business, I've had several people, potential buyers, ask me where the guarantee is that their job will get finished," Stief said. "When I explain we've been in business for 21 years now, we have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and we have the same workers we've had for the past 15-20 years, they look at me and say 'Yeah, so did they!'. And with the economy we hear about every day doom and gloom, the consumer is nervous, especially on high dollar items like home remodeling."

"A surety bond has always been required to pull permits in most of your smaller towns like Alamo Heights and Olmos Park, usually for about $10,000 in case you fail to complete the job, it gives the city an out for the homeowner to collect money to finish the project or at least recoup some of their money," Stief said.

"Recently we were doing a Veterans Administration (V.A.) job for about $70,000, and even though we're on the V.A.'s approval list, they required a bond for the amount of the job" he continued. "So I started thinking, why don't we offer this to ALL our customers. If you have a clean record, good credit rating, and no claims, the bond only cost 1 percent of the cost of the job. And even if the contractor passes this cost on to the cost of the job, like building permits, dumpsters, etc., for $700 you can save a lot of sleepiness nights worrying about your $70,000 job." Stief said

And if its' a small job, say $10,000 to remodel a bathroom, it only cost $100. The cost Stief says could defiantly be worth it. To find out more, ask your contractor if he is bondable.
