PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) "Access to Independence," a free, online magazine for the disability community was recently launched by United Disabilities Services (UDS) which is headquartered in Lancaster, PA.
Trending artist Jonathan Whitlock shares his story of recovery from an accident where he suffered traumatic head injury and had to relearn how to do everything; including the basic skills of everyday life.
Jonathan's artistic talent showed up at an early age and he was well on his way to a career as an accomplished artist when the accident seemed to be the end of his talent. But, he preserved, and over time his creativity reappeared and he began to draw and paint again. Painstakingly, at first, but through it all, his creative talent persevered. Today, 15 years later, he is recreating his life as an artist. Jonathan recently had several gallery shows and his artwork is trending up.
Jonathan's article is featured in the debut issue of "Access to Independence" which is available on the UDS eStore website at https://estore.udservices.org.
Tiphany Adams, one of four stars in the reality show "Push Girls," is featured on the cover of the magazine. The reality show star shares her message of "Never, EVER give up," with the magazine's readers and gives inspiration and tips for staying positive when times are tough. She recommends keeping a toolbox of solutions for problems that create everyday stress.
Additional features in the magazine focus on the 2014 "hot" products for home modifications in the bathroom. These products, and many others, are available on the UDS eStore, http://estore.udservices.org, and have been vetted by the UDS Home Modifications eStore team.
Three disability blogs are featured in the magazine, along with interaction from one of the UDS eStore Facebook fans. The UDS story is told and is accompanied by a video.
Events covered in the online magazine include a Life Care Planning workshop given by UDS and MassMutual on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the UDS Headquarters, 1901 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA. Families involved in caring for someone with a disability are encouraged to attend to learn more about developing a life care plan that can help a person with a disability maintain a quality lifestyle.
United Disabilities Services has years of experience in helping the disabled, veterans and those aging in place to create individualized design solutions for home modifications. Products can be found at http://estore.udservices.org or the UDS Home Modifications team can be reached at 1-888-428-0240
